Play these steps on the 3D model → 1. **Choose the spot.** Keep the stylus cover on and the adaptor unplugged. Put the turntable on a level surface, away from speakers, TVs and direct sun. **Why:** Speaker vibration reaching the stylus is the rumbling and howling in the troubleshooting table. **Tip:** Leave the power unplugged until assembly is finished. Then remove the ribbon. **Why:** With the belt off the pulley, the platter does not turn. **Tip:** Clean, dry fingers: oil makes a belt slip. Press UP/DOWN to raise the arm, turn the platter clockwise by hand ten times, then press UP/DOWN again to lower it. **Why:** This initialises the automatic mechanism; Sony repeats it as the fix when the platter will not turn. **Tip:** Turn the platter, not the arm. Set OUTPUT SELECT to PHONO for a phono input, LINE for AUX or other line inputs. **Why:** The switch turns the built-in preamp on (LINE) or off (PHONO). The wrong one is too quiet or distorted. **Tip:** For Bluetooth only, set LINE and keep the plugs from touching metal. Set the volume on your amplifier or speaker. **Why:** The SIZE knob tells the arm where the record begins. **Tip:** UP/DOWN pauses; STOP returns the arm. Sony Store Japan sells it as ZZ-PSLX310STY, for the PS-LX310BT only. Outside Japan Sony gives no code: the manual says to ask your dealer or Sony support and not to use another company's stylus (page 21). Which belt does the PS-LX310BT use? Sony Store Japan lists ZZ-PSLXBT, which also fits the PS-LX300USB, PS-HX500, PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT. Replacing it is on page 22 of the manual. Can I connect my phone to the PS-LX310BT by Bluetooth? No. It only sends Bluetooth, to speakers or headphones; it cannot receive from a phone, TV or computer (page 15). PHONO or LINE? PHONO if your amplifier has a phono input; LINE for an AUX input, powered speakers or Bluetooth. The factory setting is LINE (pages 13–14). Never set LINE into a PHONO input. Can I adjust the tracking force? No. Sony specifies 3 g and the manual lists no counterweight or force control. Does it play 78s?
