Play these steps on the 3D model → 1. **Unpack and free the arm.** Remove the packing, including the twist tie on the tonearm. Take the stylus cover off by pulling it toward the front of the player. **Why:** The tie holds the arm still for shipping; the cover protects the needle. **Tip:** Keep the cover for when you carry the player. A red light comes on. **Why:** On BT or LINE IN, the record turns but you hear another source. **Tip:** Start with the volume low. For 45s, use the adapter from its holder near the arm. **Why:** The wrong speed changes both pitch and tempo. **Tip:** The speed is printed on the record label. With auto-stop on, the platter starts when the arm moves over the record. **Why:** The lever sets the needle down gently instead of dropping it. **Tip:** Auto-stop on stops the platter at the end of the record; off, it keeps turning. No. The Journey has no step for mounting or aligning a cartridge: the factory sets where the stylus sits. Victrola's needle chart lists it for the Journey (VSC-550BT), Journey+ (VSC-400SB, VSC-450SB, VSC-500BTC), Journey II (VSC-600SB) and Journey Glow (VSC-700SB). The VSC-500SB manual prints the same code. Not for players whose serial number starts with "SAM", or the White Canvas model with retro stickers (VSC-550BT / VSC-400SB): Victrola says the ITNP-S1 does not fit those, and names no alternative. How do I check my serial number? Victrola ties the ITNP-S1 to the serial number: it fits serials starting Y, S, B, GK or AA, and not serials starting SAM. How long does the Journey needle last? Victrola gives two figures for the same ITNP-S1: about 50 hours in the Journey+ manuals and the stylus sheet, about 300 hours in the 2025 Journey II and Glow manuals. The stylus sheet adds that 78s can wear it faster. Can the Journey play through a Bluetooth speaker? Only some models. The Journey (VSC-550BT) receives Bluetooth only. The Journey+ family adds BT OUT, and the Journey II and Glow add Vinylstream out, which send the record to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. Does the Journey play 78s? Yes.
