Every figure we publish, in one file, with the thing it measures, the body that published it and the date it was read. Take it and use it.
Licence
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Use it commercially, republish it, build on it — the only condition is attribution, and the attribution that matters most is to the industry body that published the underlying figure, which is in every row.

If you are quoting a single number, cite the body in the source_org column for the number itself and this page for the compilation. Keep the metric_type column with it: that is what stops "German vinyl grew faster than American vinyl" being written about two figures that were never measuring the same thing.

- RIAA — U.S. Sales Database (United States). Year-end and mid-year.
- BVMI — Musikindustrie in Zahlen / Jahreswirtschaftsbericht (Germany). Annual figures in late February; a half-year report in summer.

- RIAJ — RIAJ Year Book and monthly production statistics (Japan). Year Book in June; production statistics monthly.
Updates
Annual reports land between late February and June depending on the country, so the file changes most in the first half of the year. Rows are added as sources are verified rather than filled in from secondary reporting — the hub lists what is still outstanding. If you have cited this and want to know when a figure moves, the date in date_checked is the one to watch.
