About this record
The blue-label pressing of this Decca 45 carries phonographic copyright text spelled out in full—'Société Française du Son'—rather than the abbreviated 'S.F.S.' found on later silver-label reissues, a detail that marks it as the earlier variant. Fernandel's narration of Alphonse Daudet's 'La Chèvre De Monsieur Seguin' is the first in a five-record series, and the dead-wax matrix stamps (27 001 A K4 and 27 001 B K4) confirm Société Française du Son as the pressing plant.
Only 2 copies are listed for sale across the market, though 13 collectors report owning one.
What drives its value
This reissue sits in a narrow price band because demand is flat: zero collectors actively want it against the 13 who have it. The price guide spans from 8.88 USD in Mint down to 0.47 USD in Poor condition, with a VG+ copy valued at 6.08 USD and a VG at 4.21 USD.
The current lowest asking price is 3.51 USD across 2 available copies. As a reissue rather than an original 1970 pressing, it commands less collector premium than a first issue would; the blue-label variant's rarity among reissues—distinguished by matte-paper sleeve and full copyright text—offers marginal distinction within a niche children's-story market where condition-driven pricing dominates over pressing variants.
How to appraise this pressing
Verify the Decca catalogue number 27.001 on the label. Check the dead-wax runout for both sides: side A should read '27 001 A K4' and side B '27 001 B K4', confirming Société Française du Son as the pressing plant.
The blue-painted label (not silver) is the key visual marker of this variant; the phonographic copyright line must read 'Société Française du Son' in full, and the label should state 'Made in France by Société Française du Son'. The sleeve pocket should feel matte-paper textured rather than vinyl-like.
Grading depends on groove wear (listen for surface noise during playback), label condition (check for paint flaking or fading), and sleeve integrity (matte paper is prone to edge rips). A VG+ example shows minimal surface noise and crisp label paint; VG allows light wear but no audible distortion.

Release notes
This is number 1 in a series of 5 records of Fernandel telling stories from Alphonse Daudet's "Lettres De Mon Moulin".
On side A, you see the catalog number repeated, one above the other: 27.001 A 27.001 A And on side B, you see both sides' numbers, one above the other: 27.001 B 27.001 A
This release is identical to the other in every way except the texture of the pocket at the back of the sleeve / audio book is matte paper (see rip on photo), seemingly older, and the labels on the record are painted blue, also in an older looking style than the other release, whose labels are painted silver, seem a newer design, and whose pocket at the back of the audio book are vinyl-like.
The phonographic copyright (P) info on the label is written out as "Société Française du Son", whereas in the other release, it's just the acronym S.F.S. The labels also read "Made in France by Société Française du Son, absent from the silver label release.
Reissue not before 1971 due to AREACEM.

Frequently asked
How do I tell this blue-label reissue from the later silver-label version?
The blue-label pressing has matte-paper sleeve texture (often showing age rips), and the label text spells out 'Société Française du Son' in full rather than using the 'S.F.S.' acronym. The silver-label reissue has a vinyl-like sleeve pocket and abbreviated copyright text. Both carry the same catalogue number 27.001 and matrix stamps.
What is a VG+ copy worth?
According to the price guide, a VG+ example is valued at 6.08 USD. This is an estimate and may not reflect actual sale prices; the current lowest asking price across available copies is 3.51 USD.
Why is demand so low for this record?
The community shows zero collectors actively seeking it, though 13 own copies. Children's story records from the 1970s have limited collector appeal outside specialist French-language audiobook markets, and reissues rank below original pressings in desirability.
Is this the first pressing or a reissue?
This is a reissue, not before 1971 due to AREACEM regulations. The 1970 Decca 27.001 pressing exists as a separate original issue; this blue-label variant is a later reissue distinguished by label design and sleeve material.
How much should I expect to pay for a VG copy?
The price guide lists a VG copy at 4.21 USD. Actual market listings show only 2 copies available, with the lowest asking price at 3.51 USD, suggesting real-world prices may undercut guide estimates in this thin market.
