About this record
Anthrax's Persistence Of Time carries the pressing plant Sonopress in its dead wax, so this is a European Sonopress run rather than a US original. The sleeve's sticker, which reads 'Special price double album - Limited edition with bonus track - High quality pressing', is the first clue that this is a promotional-style edition.
The release came out in 1990 across Europe on Island Records with Megaforce Worldwide credited alongside it, and it is catalogued as 304050.
What drives its value
Price for this pressing runs from 58.14 USD at VG up to 122.74 USD at Mint, and the price guide puts VG+ at 83.98 USD. The lowest current listing is 20 USD, with 12 copies for sale at the time of the snapshot.
Demand is strong: 473 collectors have this release and 396 want it, which keeps the price well above the lowest listing. Its position among other pressings matters.
Because this is the Europe Sonopress edition with Island and Megaforce both on the label, it sits apart from other pressings of the same title, and only the exact catalogue and matrix confirm which version a given copy represents.
How to appraise this pressing
Confirm the pressing by the catalogue number 304050, which appears on the release, and by the labels Island Records and Megaforce Worldwide. Check the dead wax for the matrix strings 010 DM-304048 A-1, 010 DM-304048 B-1, 010 DM-304049 A-1 and 010 DM-304049 B-1, and look for the Sonopress stamp.
The barcode is present and should read 4007193040505. Confirm the front sticker text 'Special price double album - Limited edition with bonus track - High quality pressing', since its presence or absence separates this edition from others.
Grade the sleeve and disc against the standard scale (M, NM, VG+, VG, G+, G, F, P), and for the price guide use the grade that matches your copy.
