About this record
Two catalogue numbers, GEF 85577 and 85577, appear on this Italian Geffen pressing, and the matrix stamps read CI GEF 85577 - 1L and CI GEF 85577 - 2L with the date 20-4-82. The CGD Pressing Plant is named alongside CBS in the runout data, which places this copy in the Italian pressing run rather than the UK or US editions.
Its 1982 self-titled debut sits on Geffen Records and is tagged in the database as Pop Rock, Prog Rock and AOR.
What drives its value
Price on this pressing moves sharply with grade: the guide runs from 30.69 USD for a Mint copy down to 14.54 USD at VG, and a VG+ copy is listed at 21 USD. Below VG the figures fall to 8.08 USD at G+ and 1.62 USD for a Poor copy.
The market snapshot shows 57 copies for sale with a lowest asking price of 2.93 USD, which means the cheapest listings are well below the guide and typically carry visible wear. Community demand is strong: 844 collectors have this release and 94 want it, against a community rating of 3.74 from 85 votes.
Among the other pressings, the 1982 US edition on GHS 2008 and the 1982 UK edition on GEF 85577 offer the comparison points; the Italian copy is one of three 1982 variants, so its value depends on grade and on proving it is the Italian issue rather than a different country's pressing.
How to appraise this pressing
Start by reading the label and catalogue number: this release should carry GEF 85577 (or 85577 alone), with Geffen Records as the label. Next check the dead wax for the matrix strings CI GEF 85577 - 1L and CI GEF 85577 - 2L, each followed by the cgd logo and the date 20-4-82.
The CGD Pressing Plant and CBS names should be legible in the runout, and the presence of these exact matrix strings is what separates this Italian pressing from the US GHS 2008 and UK GEF 85577 issues. The release has no barcode, so do not expect one as a confirming mark.
Grade the sleeve and disc separately, comparing the disc against the Mint through Poor descriptors in the guide, and note that the 9 tracks should play through on both sides. Record your grade against the guide price for that level.

Frequently asked
What is a VG+ copy of this pressing worth?
The price guide lists a VG+ copy at 21 USD. This is an estimate taken from the guide and the actual sale price will depend on the sleeve and disc condition.
What does a Mint copy cost in the guide?
The guide gives 30.69 USD for an M copy and 27.46 USD for an NM copy. These are estimates, and asking prices for copies on sale start as low as 2.93 USD.
How do I tell this Italian pressing from the US and UK editions?
Check the dead wax for the matrix CI GEF 85577 - 1L with the cgd logo and date 20-4-82, and confirm the CGD Pressing Plant name. The US edition is catalogued as GHS 2008 and the UK edition as GEF 85577, so the catalogue number alone does not separate the Italian issue from the UK one.
How many copies are currently for sale?
The market snapshot records 57 copies for sale on this pressing at the time of the guide.
How many collectors want this record?
The community data shows 844 collectors have this release and 94 want it, with an average rating of 3.74 from 85 ratings.
