Stamped in the dead wax, the runout CHE-1225-AS 1B MCASh and CHE-1225-BS 1D RE1 mark this as a Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Santa Maria copy of the original 1979 US Chrysalis release. The catalogue number CHE-1225 carries a hyphen on the sleeve and spine but none on the labels, a detail that separates it from the rest of the run.
Demand is heavy: 16436 collectors have it in their collections against 1105 who want it.
What drives its value
The price guide puts this US original from 32.13 USD in Mint down to 15.22 USD in VG, with VG+ at 21.99 USD. The market snapshot shows 164 copies for sale, with the lowest listing at 3.3 USD, so the cheapest copies sit far below the guide.
Community data shows 16436 owners and 1105 wanters, and a community rating of 3.98 from 975 votes. How to appraise this pressing
Confirm the pressing by reading the dead wax: the matrix should read CHE-1225-AS 1B MCASh on side one and CHE-1225-BS 1D RE1 on side two, with the Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Santa Maria identified in the pressing details. Check that the sleeve and spine show CHE-1225 with a hyphen while the labels omit it.
Look for the Chrysalis writing credits on the labels using first initials, matching the inner sleeve credits. Promo copies may include a folder with two 8X10 photos, a six page Blondie Travel and Restaurant Guide, and a poster marked IMPORTANT!
Please Hang In Store, and some carry a gold demonstration stamp on the back. Grade each side separately against the M to P scale on the price guide.
