About this record
Stamped in the dead wax, the runout AMLH 68502 A tone marks this as a CBS Pressing Plant, Aston Clinton pressing, and the release notes add a rare admission: the sleeve claims UK manufacture, yet the note says this is probably a UK copy, not a verified one. Outlandos D'Amour is a 1978 A&M Records LP, and the price ladder from a 51.39 USD Mint figure down to 2.70 USD for a Poor copy shows how sharply condition shapes what this album sells for.
What drives its value
The price_guide places this pressing from 51.39 USD at Mint down to 24.34 USD at VG, with VG+ at 35.16 USD, so the grade of the cover and disc is the main driver of value. The lowest current listing is 4.58 USD, and 145 copies are for sale, which means a buyer has real choice and a seller with a worn copy will struggle to hold near the top of the guide.
Community demand is substantial, with 25076 owners logged against 3749 people wanting one, which supports the guide figures but does not lift them by itself. Its position among other pressings matters: the only other listed edition is the 1979 US A&M Records issue under catalogue SP-4753, a different country and catalogue, so this UK copy is compared against that edition rather than treated as a reissue of the same pressing.
Figures are estimates as of the guide date.
How to appraise this pressing
Confirm the pressing first by reading the runout. This copy should show AMLH 68502 A tone and AMLH 68502 B on side one and two, with the alternate etched form AMLH·68502·A·7 TONE and AMLH·68502·B·2 also recorded for this release, so the matrix digits matter.
Look for the CBS letter and number stamps away from the main matrix string, since the notes say these stamps include A, B, C, D, E, 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 11, and that the main matrix is etched. Check the sleeve for the matte-finish picture card cover, the Made in Great Britain and Patent Nos. 1,125,555 wording, and the (P) 1978 A&M Records Ltd. line.
A sleeve with a Special Price sticker and the stamped Special Price High Quality Pressing inner would indicate the Variant 8 release. There is no barcode on this issue, so do not rely on one.
Grade the vinyl and sleeve separately, paying attention to the tracks B4a and B4b, which share one timing listing of 3:24.

Frequently asked
What is a VG+ copy of Outlandos D'Amour worth?
According to the price_guide, a VG+ copy is valued at 35.16 USD. This is an estimate as of the guide date, and it sits between the NM figure of 45.98 USD and the VG figure of 24.34 USD.
How many copies of this pressing are currently for sale?

Is this the same as the 1979 US release?
No. The US edition is the 1979 A&M Records issue under catalogue SP-4753, a different country and catalogue number, so it should be identified separately from this UK pressing.
What should I check to confirm this is the UK pressing?
Read the runout for AMLH 68502 A tone and AMLH 68502 B, check for the CBS Pressing Plant, Aston Clinton reference and the CBS letter and number stamps, and verify the sleeve wording Made in Great Britain with Patent Nos. 1,125,555. The release notes say the sleeve country statement may not match the actual manufacture, so the matrix and sleeve text should be checked together.
