What goes wrong
From the troubleshooting section on page 9 of the CR8005F manual (the same page in the US and EU editions) and the auto-stop note on page 6.
| Symptom | Cause | What to do | Manual |
|---|---|---|---|
| No power. | Adaptor not connected properly; no power at the outlet; the player switched itself off after 20 minutes without sound. | Reconnect the adaptor and check the outlet. After an automatic power-off, switch it off and on again. | Cruiser Plus CR8005F manual (US, 2025), p. 9 |
| Power is on, but the platter does not turn. | The drive belt has slipped off; an aux-in cable is plugged in (aux overrides the turntable). | Refit the belt (Crosley customer service sells belts); unplug the aux cable. | Cruiser Plus CR8005F manual (US, 2025), p. 9 |
| The platter turns, but there is no sound or it is too quiet. | Stylus protector still on; tonearm held up by the cue lever; headphones plugged in. | Remove the stylus protector, lower the cue lever, unplug the headphones. | Cruiser Plus CR8005F manual (US, 2025), p. 9 |
| The player stops before the end of the record. | Auto-stop triggers early (rare). | Switch auto-stop off. | Cruiser Plus CR8005F manual (US, 2025), p. 6 |
Set up the Cruiser
The setup from the Cruiser Plus CR8005F manual, step by step on the model. Play these steps on the 3D model →
- Find a flat spot. Put the player on a flat, level surface that does not vibrate.
- Free the tonearm. Remove the tie-wrap that holds the tonearm for shipping.
- Connect the power. Plug the adaptor into the power jack. Plug it into the wall only after all other connections are made. Optional: connect the RCA jacks to powered speakers or a stereo input.
- Switch on, choose PHONO. Turn the On/Off volume knob to switch on, and set the function switch to PHONO. The indicator turns red.
- Set the speed, add a record. Set the speed switch to match the record and put the record on the platter. For singles with a large hole, use the 45 adapter.
- Remove the protector, release the clip. Take the protector off the stylus and release the hold-down clip on the arm rest.
- Lower the arm with the cue lever. Raise the arm with the tonearm lever, move it over the record, then lower the lever to play.
Bluetooth: set the function switch to Bluetooth and pair your phone with "CROSLEY CR8005F" to play through the speakers; the middle position sends the record to Bluetooth speakers or headphones (manual pages 7–8).
Check that the Cruiser turns at the right speed with our printable strobe disc.
Does the Cruiser need a protractor?
No. The Cruiser has no step for mounting or aligning a cartridge: the factory sets where the stylus sits. An alignment protractor is for turntables where you fit the cartridge yourself.
