About this record
The 1975 UK Harvest pressing SHVL 814 stamped at Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. commands 707.25 USD in Mint condition—a steep premium over the 23.27 USD floor price for copies in poor condition. The matrix variants A-1 and B-3 mark the first pressing; later stampings carry different runout codes but remain first-issue copies.
Demand is acute: 16397 collectors want this title against 33522 who own one, yet only 185 copies are listed for sale across the market.
What drives its value
The price gradient from Mint (707.25 USD) to VG+ (483.91 USD) to VG (335.01 USD) reflects the original's scarcity and condition sensitivity. A Mint copy commands 707.25 USD; drop to NM and the value falls to 632.80 USD; at VG+ it reaches 483.91 USD.
The floor of 23.27 USD applies only to Poor-graded stock. With 185 copies currently for sale and a want-to-have ratio of 16397 to 33522, this 1975 UK pressing sits well above the 1975 US Columbia (PC 33453) and 1975 French Harvest (2C 068-96 918) variants in collector priority.
The 2011 reissue (SHVL 814) and 2016 Pink Floyd Records edition (PFRLP9) have fractured demand but not eliminated it for the original stamping.
How to appraise this pressing
Confirm the 1975 UK pressing by the Harvest label, catalogue SHVL 814, and the Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. credit on the sleeve. The matrix runout will read SHVL 814A or SHVL 814B on side 1 and side 2 respectively; first-press copies show A-1 or B-3 variants.
The label credits "Waters-Gilmour-Wright" on side 1 for Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 5—later pressings list "Waters" only. The inner sleeve is die-cut on 3 of 4 corners (a separate version exists with all 4 corners cut).
The cover features a narrow spine at top and bottom on some copies, wide in the middle on others. Original shrink wrap bore a round Wish You Were Here sticker; the postcard insert shows a diving man with jagged edges.
Grade by surface noise, groove wear, and jacket creasing; a Mint copy shows no play wear and pristine cover gloss.

Frequently asked
What is the price difference between a Mint and VG+ copy of this 1975 UK pressing?
A Mint copy is valued at 707.25 USD according to the price guide; a VG+ copy at 483.91 USD. The spread reflects the original's rarity and the market's premium for unplayed stock. These are guide estimates and actual sales vary.
How do I identify a first-press copy from later 1975 UK printings?
Check the matrix runout stamped in the dead wax. First-press copies carry SHVL 814 A-1 on side 1 and SHVL 814 B-3 on side 2. Other matrix combinations (such as SHVL 814A or SHVL 814B without the suffix) indicate later pressings from the same 1975 first-issue run, still pressed at Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.
What is the lowest price I might find this record listed at?
The market floor is 23.27 USD, recorded for a Poor-graded copy. With 185 copies currently for sale, stock exists across all grades; however, copies in playable condition (VG or better) command 335.01 USD and up.
How does the 1975 UK Harvest pressing compare to the 1975 US Columbia version?
The UK Harvest SHVL 814 is the original first issue, pressed at Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. The US Columbia pressing (PC 33453) is a simultaneous 1975 release for the North American market. Collectors prioritize the UK original; the want-to-have ratio of 16397 to 33522 reflects stronger demand for this pressing over regional variants.
Is the 2011 reissue (SHVL 814) the same as the 1975 original?
No. The 2011 Harvest reissue uses the same catalogue number SHVL 814 but is a modern pressing, not the 1975 original. The original is identified by the 1975 copyright, Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. pressing plant credit, and the matrix runout codes A-1 or B-3. The 2016 Pink Floyd Records edition (PFRLP9) and 2025 Columbia worldwide reissue (8887518426IA) are further removed from the original.
