Every Life of a Showgirl vinyl variant

The table covers every official 12-inch LP of The Life of a Showgirl, in the order the variants were released. The "how limited" column quotes what the store or the press said at the time, with the date, and nothing else: no store or label has published a pressing quantity for any of them. The last column is the number of Discogs users who log a copy, summed across the US and European pressings, checked on 12 October 2026. It measures how many copies are in collectors' hands, which is the nearest public substitute for a pressing figure.

All 11 share the same packaging: a top-opening gatefold with fold-out panels and two spines, a poem and a strip of four photographs on the right-hand panel, and a lyric booklet with a pocket for the record. The one exception is the Target "The Crowd Is Your King" edition, which uses a die-cut pocket jacket and adds a double-sided 24-by-36-inch poster. Fan threads on Reddit count "24 versions", but that figure mixes CDs, cassettes and signed inserts with the vinyl; for the record itself, 11 colors is the complete list as of 12 October 2026.

The 7-inch singles and the RSD 2026 "Elizabeth Taylor"

Three 7-inch singles from the album were sold after release, each as a short window rather than an open product:

The "Elizabeth Taylor" single was Swift's Record Store Day 2026 release, on 18 April 2026, pressed on "Cry My Eyes Violet Glitter" vinyl and sold only through participating independent stores. Discogs notes that no pressing quantity was advertised, which is unusual for an RSD title. It already has 22,236 Discogs owners; see our Record Store Day guide for how RSD exclusives are allocated to stores.

The Japanese pressing of the LP (UIJS-7010, December 2025) uses the standard orange disc with an obi strip, so it is a regional edition rather than a separate variant.

Store exclusives: webstore, Target and RSD

Almost every limited Showgirl variant was sold on Taylor Swift's own webstore, in "collections" of two colors that went up after a countdown clock on the site:

  • The Shiny Bug Collection (18 August 2025): Violet Shimmer Marbled and Wintergreen & Onyx Marbled. Advertised for 48 hours or while supplies last; Variety reported both sold out in under an hour.
  • Baby, That's Show Business (21 August 2025): Lovely Bouquet Golden and Lakeside Beach Blue Sparkle. The blue sold out in about half an hour, the gold in about an hour, then the gold was restocked and sold out again.
  • Tiny Bubbles in Champagne (25 August 2025): Under Bright Lights Pearlescent and Red Lipstick & Lace Transparent.
  • The holiday drop (24 November 2025, from 11 a.m. EST, 24 hours): Lit My Sky Up Orange Metallic, Honestly Wild Transparent and Sequins Are Forever Magenta Glitter, shipped in December.

The one retail exclusive is The Crowd Is Your King Edition in Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer, sold at Target in the US. It was promoted as a "limited run" and "first and only pressing", and Target customers who came at midnight on release day received a commemorative ticket. It also has the largest number of owners among the limited LPs, 30,225 on Discogs, because a national chain sold it in stores rather than a webstore for an hour.

The CDs followed a parallel scheme: three deluxe CD editions titled "It's Beautiful", "It's Rapturous" and "It's Frightening" went on sale on 18 August 2025. They are not vinyl and are left out of the count above.

Which Showgirl variants were limited by time

"Is The Life of a Showgirl vinyl limited edition?" depends entirely on the color. The standard Portofino Orange Glitter is not: Variety described it on 26 August 2025 as the only version set to remain on sale indefinitely, and it is still in retail. Every other color was limited, but by a sales window rather than by a published number of copies:

  • 48 hours or while supplies last: the three August webstore collections. In practice each sold out within about an hour.
  • 24 hours: the three November holiday colors, and the "Fate of Ophelia" 7-inch on 18 December 2025 (with a five-hour restock on 4 January 2026).
  • 48 hours: the "Opalite" 7-inch, from 4 February 2026 in the US and 5 February in Europe.
  • "First and only pressing": Target's The Crowd Is Your King Edition.
  • One day, one channel: the RSD "Elizabeth Taylor" 7-inch.

A sales window is a weaker limit than a copy count. A one-hour sell-out of a webstore color still produced more than 11,000 Discogs-logged copies per color, while the 24-hour holiday colors produced roughly a third as many. Treat the length of the window and the owner count together; neither tells the whole story alone. Our limited edition vinyl guide explains how labels define "limited" in general.

How to tell the Showgirl variants apart

The jackets of the 11 LPs differ only in small details, such as the color of the title logo on the Shiny Bug pair, so identification comes down to three things:

  • Vinyl color. Discogs describes each one in plain words, which helps when the marketing name does not: Lovely Bouquet Golden is golden yellow metallic with orange and red splatter; Honestly Wild is clear with metallic red splatter; Under Bright Lights is pearlescent cream with splatter.
  • Barcode and catalog number. Each variant has its own, from 00602478225260 for the standard to 00602478225376 for Lit My Sky Up. It is printed on the barcode sticker on the shrink, which is why sealed copies are much easier to verify than opened ones.
  • Country sticker. US copies of several variants say "VINYL MADE IN MEXICO" on the rear shrink, European copies carry a "Made in Germany" sticker.

The runout will not help you tell the colors apart. All eight variants whose runouts are transcribed on Discogs carry 00602478225260, the standard number, plus RKS and STERLING: the same cut at Sterling Sound was used for every color. That makes the runout a good test of whether a copy is an official pressing at all, and a useless test of which variant it is. The runout guide explains what the other characters mean, and the Taylor Swift fake-or-real checklist covers counterfeits.

VinylAI identifies the release from a photo of the cover or label and matches it to its Discogs entry. It cannot see the color of a record through sealed shrink, so for a sealed Showgirl the barcode sticker is what settles the variant.

How Showgirl compares with folklore and Midnights

Showgirl is the largest variant campaign of Swift's career, and the numbers on Discogs show how the approach changed. In 2020 folklore had eight editions, all sold in the same one-week preorder, with each collector's edition ending up at roughly 5,800 to 9,100 Discogs owners. In 2022 Midnights had four clock colors and a Target Lavender, sold for seven days and in retail, and those editions reached 28,000 to 55,000 owners each, because they were not small runs.

Showgirl split the supply further. Instead of one window, the variants came in a sequence of drops over three months, two colors at a time, each sold for 48 or 24 hours. The result is a wider spread than either earlier album: 46,302 owners for the standard, 11,000 to 14,000 for each August webstore color, and around 3,600 to 4,000 for the November holiday trio.

For a collector this means the Showgirl colors are not equally collectable, even though they were all marketed the same way. The November colors are as scarce as folklore's rarest editions; the August colors sit between folklore and Midnights. See the folklore vinyl variants and the Midnights vinyl variants for those lists in full.

Which Showgirl variants hold value

We are not publishing price figures on this page. eBay hides completed sales behind a login, so we could not take a dated sample of sold listings, and we do not reuse Discogs marketplace prices. What we can rank is supply, using the number of collectors who own each variant on Discogs (12 October 2026):

  • Scarcest: Sequins Are Forever Magenta Glitter (3,568), Honestly Wild Transparent (3,624) and Lit My Sky Up Orange Metallic (4,041). These are the strongest candidates to hold value: the window was 24 hours and none has been repressed.
  • Middle: the six August webstore colors, between 11,184 and 13,721 owners each. Each is about a quarter as common as the standard.
  • Common: The Crowd Is Your King (30,225) and the standard orange (46,302 and still in print). The standard's price is capped by what a new copy costs in a shop.

Two general rules apply to every modern limited variant. Prices are usually highest in the weeks after a sell-out, before most buyers have received their copies, and settle once those copies reach the second-hand market. And condition decides as much as color: a corner dent or seam split on a 24-hour variant matters more than which of the three it is. Grade before buying with the vinyl grading guide, and compare completed sales rather than asking prices.

Should you buy a Showgirl variant now?

If you want the music on vinyl, buy the standard Portofino Orange Glitter at retail. It is the same 12-track album on the same lacquers, and it is the only version still made. If you want a limited color, the August webstore colors are the ones with the most copies in circulation, which usually means the widest choice of condition and the least pressure on price.

Watch one development before spending on the scarcer colors. On 24 September 2026 Swift released The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, a digital deluxe edition with four new songs ("Patient Zero", "Cleveland!", "Babylon" and "Pink Clouding"). As of 12 October 2026 we found no vinyl edition of it on Discogs or in the press. If a vinyl Encore is announced, it will add new variants to this list, and we will add them to this page within a day of the announcement. For how Showgirl compares with folklore, Midnights and the rest of the catalog, see our guide to every Taylor Swift vinyl variant, and for the general picture, vinyl variants explained.
