RSD Black Friday 2026 List: All 187 Releases, Date and Participating Shops

November 27, 2026

Updated:

RSD Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November 2026 — the day after American Thanksgiving — in participating independent record shops, in person only on the day. It is the November companion to April's Record Store Day: a shorter list of limited releases, first come, first served, with no pre-orders. The official list was published on 6 October 2026: 187 titles in the US and 150 in the UK and Ireland — the full US table, with every quantity, is right below. Leftovers may go online from 8am Eastern on Saturday 28 November in the US.

The Official RSD Black Friday 2026 List: All 187 Releases

Status, updated 12 October 2026: the official list was published on 6 October 2026. Below is every title on the US list with its format, label, US quantity and category, sorted by artist. The UK and Ireland have their own list of 150 titles — see RSD Black Friday 2026 in the UK.

187 titles on the US list: 120 RSD Exclusives, 20 limited-run or regional releases and 47 RSD First titles. Together they come to 534,245 copies in the US, and the median title is pressed in 2,200 copies. The biggest run is Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band — Live at Tower Theater Philly 1975 (14,500 copies); the smallest is Oscar Rossignoli — Mar Adentro (250).

Source: the official RSD Black Friday 2026 list on recordstoreday.com, published 6 October 2026, checked 12 October 2026. Quantities are the US quantities Record Store Day lists for each title. Titles can still be added, moved or dropped before the day.

Read the category before you plan the morning. An RSD First may reach general sale later, so it is not worth paying a flipper for on the day; a limited-run or regional title of a few hundred copies may be in only a handful of shops in the whole country. Titles are still added, moved or dropped after publication — the organisers call these street-date bumps — so check each title’s official page, linked in the table, in the week before.

The quantity column is the number for the whole of the US, not per shop. A run of 1,500 shared between every participating shop that ordered it means one or two copies in any given shop, if any — which is why the useful move now is to mark a short list and a second choice and ask the shops near you what they actually ordered.

Two of the holiday titles on the list are Peanuts records: the Advent Calendar Edition of A Charlie Brown Christmas (Craft Recordings, 8,100 US copies, Eco-Red vinyl in a gatefold with 24 opening windows) and Charlie Brown's All Stars! on 10-inch. If you are choosing between the advent edition and the dozen other pressings of the album on sale this year, we compare every pressing of A Charlie Brown Christmas, from the 1965 original onwards.

What Is Record Store Day Black Friday and How Did It Start?

Record Store Day Black Friday — RSD BF — is the November edition of Record Store Day, held every year on the day after American Thanksgiving. Record Store Day began in April 2008 to bring people into independent record shops, and in 2010 its organisers coordinated the first Black Friday event, aimed at the start of the holiday shopping season. It predates Small Business Saturday by a few years.

It is not a second Record Store Day, in the organisers' own words. The list is shorter by design — 158 to 175 US titles a year in 2022–2025, against 300 to 390 in April — and it is meant to launch releases that shops can carry into the holiday season while supplies last. As in April, the releases are sold only in participating independent shops, in person, first come, first served, with no pre-orders or holds.

Unlike a typical Black Friday, it is not a sale: these are new limited releases at full price. In the US, shops that sign the Record Store Day Pledge may not charge more than 20% above the suggested list price, in the shop or online. For more on the April event, its rules in each country and every date since 2008, see our Record Store Day overview.

When Is RSD Black Friday 2026? Date, Opening Times and Participating Shops

RSD Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November 2026. The date is not chosen freshly each year — it is always the Friday after American Thanksgiving, which in 2026 falls on Thursday 26 November. Shops set their own opening time and many open earlier than usual, often somewhere between 7am and 9am local time, with queues forming before that at the busiest ones. There is no single national opening hour, so the only reliable answer for your shop is your shop: check its own social feed or call ahead in the week before.

RSD Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November — shop opening times and how participation works

Not every record shop takes part. Participation is limited to independently owned shops with a physical storefront whose main business is selling music, and each one applies to Record Store Day directly — which is why a large city may have a dozen participating shops and a smaller one may have a single shop or none. The official store locator on recordstoreday.com is the authoritative list of who is taking part; our own directory of record shops by city is useful for the next question, which is which of them are worth the trip and what they are strong in.

Dates and mechanics differ by country. The UK runs its own list through Record Store Day UK, and it is not identical to the American one, so a release announced for the US is not automatically on sale in Britain. Elsewhere in Europe shops generally follow the same Friday, while some shops in Japan and Australia schedule around local trading patterns. If you are buying from abroad, check the regional page rather than assuming the US list applies.

Understanding RSD BF Releases: Categories, Quantities, and Pricing

The official list sorts releases into categories, and the category tells you how scarce a title really is. RSD Exclusives are released physically only through independent record shops. RSD First titles are sold first in independent shops but may reach other shops and online stores later. Small Run / Regional titles are pressings under 1,000 copies or releases sold only in certain regions or shops.

The quantity printed on the US list is the US quantity; worldwide totals are only sometimes given, and the UK publishes its own list. Shops do not buy from Record Store Day: each shop orders the titles it wants from distributors, and when a title is oversubscribed it is shared out so that no shop gets its full order. That is why one shop may have two copies of a title and another none — and why it is worth asking your shop what it ordered.

On pricing, the only official rule in the US is the cap: a Pledge shop may charge at most 20% above the suggested list price, and the same cap applies when leftovers are sold online. Multi-LP sets and special packaging cost more than single LPs; check your shop's price before the day rather than relying on typical figures.

Strategy Guide: How to Successfully Shop RSD Black Friday

Successful RSD Black Friday shopping comes down to planning. The most important factor is arrival time: for the most wanted titles, the queue at a busy shop forms well before opening. In the US nothing may be sold before 8am Eastern (5am Pacific), and in the UK shops sell from 8am; your own shop's opening time is on its website or social accounts in the days before. Bring weather-appropriate layers, something to sit on and water — November mornings are cold.

Once inside, go straight for your list. Many shops set RSD titles apart in a dedicated section or behind the counter, and many use a separate till for them. Secure your first choices, then browse. Most shops limit purchases to one copy per title per person — in the UK that is the rule — so a friend in the queue cannot buy your second copy.

If your area has several participating shops, plan a route: go to your first-choice shop first, then try others later in the morning, when the first crowds have gone. Allocations are uneven, and a title that sold out in the city centre can still be on the shelf a few miles out.

Set a budget before the day and bring more than one way to pay. Inspect your purchases before you leave the shop if you can: pressing defects happen, and they are easier to sort out on the spot. And if you miss something, wait for the online window rather than paying a reseller the same afternoon.

RSD Black Friday vs. April Record Store Day: Key Differences

Both events follow the same rules — independent shops only, in person on the day, no pre-orders — but they are different in size and character. April's Record Store Day is held on a Saturday, usually the third of the month, with 300 to 390 US releases a year and in-store performances in many shops. RSD Black Friday is held on the Friday after Thanksgiving with roughly half as many titles, and the organisers say it is not meant to be a second Record Store Day.

RSD Black Friday vs. April Record Store Day: key differences

Participation also differs. Not every shop that takes part in April takes part in November, and some countries do not run an official Black Friday edition at all: France's Disquaire Day has no autumn edition, Australia's organisers do not run it (although some shops still order stock), and Japan's autumn equivalent is a separate event, レコードの日 (Record Day), on 3 November and 5 December 2026. The online rules differ too: in the US, Black Friday leftovers may go online from 8am Eastern on the Saturday after — the morning after the event, just as April's leftovers go online on the Sunday morning.

Both events serve different roles in a collector's year. April is the bigger celebration, with the longer list and the bigger crowds; Black Friday is shorter and falls in the gift-buying season. Many collectors do both — and treat November as a quieter rehearsal for April.

Which Record Shops Near You Take Part

RSD Black Friday happens in shops, so the practical question is which shops, and that is where the official source is thinnest: recordstoreday.com will tell you who is on the list, but not what a shop is good at, when it opens, or whether it is worth the longer trip. Our directory covers 1 431 record shops across 77 cities, with opening hours, what each one specialises in and how people rate it — which is the layer you need once you know the list.

Two things worth doing in the fortnight before the day. First, confirm participation directly with the shop rather than assuming: a shop that took part last year may not have applied this year, and a shop that is not on any list may still be doing something of its own. Second, ask how they run the morning — some hand out numbered tickets at opening, some form a queue on the pavement, some limit purchases to one copy per title per person, and a few operate a lottery for the scarcest titles. None of that is published anywhere central, and a thirty-second conversation changes your whole plan.

If you are travelling for it, plan a second and third shop. Allocations are small and uneven — a title that sold out in ten minutes in the city centre is often still sitting in a shop two miles out, which is the single most reliable trick in the whole event.

What RSD Releases From 2023-2025 Are Actually Worth Now

This is the question behind every decision to queue, and it is the one nobody answers with numbers: if you buy two copies, does the second one pay for the morning? We pulled a sample of 210 releases that Discogs flags with the Record Store Day format description — seventy from each of 2023, 2024 and 2025 — and looked at what the cheapest listed copy of each is being asked for now.

Source: Discogs marketplace, checked 2026-09-11. A sample of 210 releases Discogs flags with the “Record Store Day” format description, by release year. Every figure is the lowest price a copy is being asked for on that date — not a sale price. Discogs does not separate the April event from the November Black Friday one, so each year covers both.

The shape of it is consistent across all three years, and it is not the shape the resale stories suggest. The median release from each year is being asked for somewhere between $14 and $17, while RSD titles typically retail between roughly $25 and $40 when they come out. Around seven in ten are being asked for under $20. A quarter of each year's releases sit below about $8.

The upside is real but it is narrow. Each year threw up one or two releases asking three figures — and in every year those were the titles with enormous want lists on Discogs, which is a signal you can read on the day rather than a lottery. The honest summary is that RSD Black Friday is a good way to buy a record you want at a fair price and a poor way to make money, and that the few exceptions are visible in advance if you look at demand rather than at scarcity.

One caution about these figures, because it matters: they are asking prices, not sale prices. A copy listed at $170 that nobody buys is still listed at $170. Discogs also does not separate the April event from the November one in this field, so each year covers both.

Beyond RSD Black Friday: Alternative Vinyl Events and Shopping Opportunities

While RSD Black Friday is a highlight of the vinyl collecting calendar, numerous other events and opportunities exist for collectors throughout the year. Regional and national record fairs offer extensive dealer selections, often with rare and vintage pressings unavailable through retail channels. Major events like the Los Angeles Record Swap (held monthly), the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair (seasonal), and the internationally renowned Utrecht Record Fair in the Netherlands attract thousands of collectors and hundreds of dealers. These events allow for bargaining, bulk purchasing, and discovering obscure releases that never appeared on RSD lists. If you're interested in the dealer side, our guide on selling at record fairs provides valuable insights into that market.

Vinyl subscription services provide another avenue for regular collecting without the competition and stress of RSD events. Services like Vinyl Me, Please, Secretly Society, and Third Man Records Vault offer exclusive pressings, reissues, and curated selections delivered monthly. While these releases aren't as immediately scarce as RSD titles, many subscription-exclusive pressings appreciate steadily over time, and the curated nature helps collectors discover new artists aligned with their tastes. Our comprehensive vinyl subscription clubs comparison can help you evaluate which service best matches your collecting goals and musical preferences.

Independent record stores also host their own exclusive release events throughout the year, often in partnership with labels or artists. In-store performances, album release parties, and store anniversaries frequently feature limited-edition pressings or special variants available only at that specific location. Building relationships with your local stores through regular patronage often results in early notifications about these events and sometimes even reserved copies of limited releases. Additionally, many stores hold regular sales events, clearance days, and used vinyl restock announcements that can yield excellent finds at fraction-of-retail prices.

Online communities and marketplaces complement physical events by providing year-round access to rare releases. Discogs remains the definitive marketplace for buying and selling vinyl, with detailed release information, condition grading standards, and price history data. Reddit's vinyl communities frequently organize group buys, trade threads, and information sharing about upcoming releases and restocks. Facebook groups dedicated to specific genres or regional collecting scenes offer localized trading opportunities and event information. These digital resources extend the collecting experience beyond single-day events, creating an ongoing engagement with the hobby.

Preparing for RSD Black Friday: Final Tips and Recommendations

As RSD Black Friday approaches, final preparation ensures you maximize your chances of securing desired releases while enjoying the experience. Two weeks before the event, finalize your priority list based on the official release announcement and any updates about pressing quantities or last-minute additions. Contact your preferred stores to ask about their specific RSD policies—some implement wristband systems for line management, others use lottery systems for high-demand titles, and policies vary regarding purchase limits and payment methods. Understanding these details prevents surprises on event day.

One week before, scout your route if planning to visit multiple stores. Use mapping tools to calculate realistic travel times between locations, accounting for potential Black Friday traffic. Identify parking options or public transportation routes, as street parking near popular stores may be extremely limited during the event. If you're part of a collecting group or have friends participating, coordinate responsibilities—who's targeting which stores, what titles each person prioritizes, and how you'll communicate if someone finds a rare release another person wants. Some collectors use group messaging apps to provide real-time updates about stock availability and line conditions at different stores.

The night before RSD Black Friday, prepare your physical supplies: comfortable weather-appropriate clothing in layers, a folding chair or blanket for line waiting, phone chargers and battery packs, cash in various denominations, and your priority list in easily accessible format. Set multiple alarms to ensure you wake up with enough time to arrive at your target arrival time. Many collectors also prepare a post-event plan for cataloging new acquisitions—whether that's updating spreadsheets, adding releases to Discogs collections, or logging them in apps like VinylAI for digital collection management and barcode scanning.

Finally, maintain perspective and realistic expectations. Not every collector secures every desired release, and that's part of the event's nature. The scarcity creates both excitement and occasional disappointment. Remember that many RSD releases eventually become available through secondary markets, and the experience of participating in the vinyl community—meeting fellow collectors, supporting independent stores, and enjoying the hunt—has value beyond any individual record. Whether you leave with one title or ten, you've contributed to sustaining the independent record store ecosystem that makes events like RSD Black Friday possible. Understanding the different formats you might encounter, from LPs to EPs to singles, can also help you make informed decisions about which releases best fit your collection and budget.

FAQ: RSD Black Friday 2026 List: All 187 Releases, Date and Participating Shops

On 6 October 2026 — on recordstoreday.com for the US and on recordstoreday.co.uk for the UK and Ireland. The US list has 187 titles and the UK list 150; the full US list with quantities is on this page.

187 on the US list: 120 RSD Exclusives, 20 limited-run or regional titles and 47 RSD First titles, 534,245 copies in all. The largest run is Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s Live at Tower Theater Philly 1975 on 4×LP (14,500 copies); the smallest is Oscar Rossignoli’s Mar Adentro (250). The UK and Ireland list has 150 titles, 110 of them also on the US list.

Not on the day: RSD Black Friday releases are sold in participating independent shops, in person. Afterwards shops may sell leftover stock online — in the US from 8am Eastern on the Saturday after (Saturday 28 November 2026), under the shop's own name and at fixed prices, no auctions. Anything listed online before then is not from a participating shop.

For the scarcest titles, usually yes. Allocations per shop are small, and no shop gets its full order of a popular title, so a release with a few thousand US copies may mean two or three in any given shop. Shops handle the morning differently — numbered tickets, a pavement queue, or a limit of one per person — so ask yours in advance rather than assuming.

Record Store Day does not publish per-shop allocations. Each shop orders from distributors, and oversubscribed titles are shared out between the shops that ordered them, so no shop gets its full order. In practice a small independent may receive one or two copies of a scarce title and a dozen of a wider one. Many shops will tell you what they are expecting if you ask.

Mostly not. Across 210 releases from 2023, 2024 and 2025 that Discogs flags as Record Store Day titles, the median cheapest listed copy is being asked for between $14 and $17 — around seven in ten under $20. One or two titles a year reach three figures, and those tend to be the ones with very large Discogs want lists. Buy what you want to own; the resale case is weak. Figures checked 11 September 2026 and are asking prices, not sale prices.

RSD Exclusives are released physically only through independent record shops. RSD First titles are sold first in independent shops but may reach other retailers and online stores later. RSD Essentials are not part of the day at all: they are a year-round programme of catalogue reissues for independent shops, launched in 2021. Confusing them is the most common reason people queue for something they did not need to queue for.

Friday 27 November 2026 — always the day after American Thanksgiving, which falls on 26 November in 2026. In the US nothing may be sold before 8am Eastern; shops set their own opening times, so check with your shop rather than assuming.
